Facebook Groups can be an effective tool in your social efforts, but as with any tool, they should be used responsibly. Misusing groups can trigger the deletion of the group or even a full suspension of your Facebook account.
Facebook’s spam detection algorithms take many things into account, but posting identical content to a bunch of different locations on Facebook is a major red flag, particularly if those posts are made in quick succession.
Instead of blasting out the same message to a bunch of groups, consider a few options:
If you’re regularly posting the same content to multiple groups, that’s a good sign those groups may have similar audiences and function. While Facebook doesn’t allow groups to be merged automatically, you can invite the members of one group to join the other before closing it.
Carefully crafting content
Different groups deserve a different approach. Consider the audience in each, and adjust your strategy accordingly. This may take more time, but a more personal, engaged approach to each group’s membership will pay off in the long run.
Be careful not to just change a few words in each post - Facebook’s algorithms are intelligent enough to detect if the posts are largely similar.
Take advantage of saved content
Don’t forget that you can save content to your personal library for later use! If you’ve written a post that’s relevant to more than one of your groups, consider saving it to your content library for later use. Post your awesome content to one group this week, and to another group next week.
